Strange, why our two worlds must meet
When lips, wanting the abandon of a kiss,
Are sealed for purity's sake.
You and I saw in each other's eyes
All the mute longings,
The stifled sighs,
The intense ache
Of our desires.
I could never be the substance
To the liquid fire that burns
Within you.
But I can be the dewdrops
To your every burning need.
Who says I couldn't return
Your kisses? Your embrace?
Why shouldn't we be consumed
In our mad delirium,
In the sheer ecstasy of the moment?
When I see you again
In the summer of our life,
Is it to suffer once more
The agony of prolonged absence?
Of the usual hellos and goodbyes?
Somewhere in time
We shall love without needless shame;
We shall open the floodgates
Of our tormented souls
And we shall hold hands like any lovers do.
And we shall traverse,
In one swift embrace,
All the distances.
And all our desires
Will be mere echoes
Of our eternal kiss.
