Sometimes When We Touch
Amy L. Chaves
Sept. 14, 1999
(This poem is dedicated to all lovers confronted
with what has been but could never be.)
I
When I saw you once more
and felt your hand touching mine,
I felt the rivulets of hidden echoes of
our desires,
stirring....
And I live again to the magic of your
touch,
your voice, your smile--
You and all of you I was enfolding in my
whole being that night,
No matter how fleeting--
there was you.
And my yesterdays and todays merged in
you--
In your smile, in your lips, in your
eyes.
II
If I could only touch you once more
And feel the passion and the wonders of
your presence
I will give everything just to be near
you,
just to touch you,
just to cup the face that I love so
dearly
And bury all the pains in one soft
embrace.
III
Our roads may lead somewhere where they
diverge
But if we could turn back,
we will go back where you and I
touched a million diamonds in the sky
with our touch, with our love.
