GENTLY SAYING GOODBYE
(Dedicated to those whose love
is greater than their pain.)
By Amy L. Chaves

How many times have we gently said goodbye
to moments of togetherness,
to love's blue sky?
How many times have we gently said goodbye
to aching arms and mournful eyes
that wonder why?
Perhaps it is best to say gently our goodbyes
to elude the shattering of dreams
that never were and never will.
I wonder if this time we are gently saying
goodbye
to memories of feverish kisses
on a Monday morning,
to nights of cold December?
But can we ever gently say goodbye
to moments of truth and
surges of great pleasures?
when soul and body intermingle in the
sweetness of love
that knows no bounds, that knows no end?
No, we can never say goodbye
to love, to life and meaning.
No, we never say goodbye to nights and days,
to dreams, to hopes , and to all our yearnings.
This poem is never meant to gently say goodbye.
It is meant to say "hello" and
"I love you."
